AFTER INDEPENDENCE
The Ghana Independence Act, 1957:

This received Royal Assent on 7/2/57. The long title described it as An act to make provision for and in connection with, the attainment by the Gold Coast of fully responsible status within the British Commonwealth of Nations. The effect of the opening words was to place all the four territories on an equal footing as the dominions of Her Majesty in her capacity as Queen of Ghana. On 8/3/57 Ghana became a member of the United Nations Organisation.

Constitution of 1957:

The Ghana (Constitution) Order in Council, 1957 (S.I. 1957, No. 277; L.N. 47) the main provision of which came into force on 6th March, 1957, embodied the new Constitution of Independent Ghana, apart from Legislative powers contained in the lst Schedule to the Independence Act. The most important new features were as follows:-
The Executive:
The Governor was replaced by a Governor-General, who was also Commander-in-chief of tile armed forces. The Executive power of Ghana was vested in the Queen exercisable by her or by the Governor-General as her representative. Previous limitations on the power of the Cabinet were removed, and it was charged with the general direction and control of the Government of Ghana, and made responsible to Parliament.

The Judicial Service  of Ghana as part of the reforms to improve upon and ensure smooth and efficient administration of justice, requires the services of dynamic, result-oriented, self motivated and exceptionally competent individual, to join the Management Team in the following position.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Audit, the duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Director of Audit shall include:
Conduct specific investigations into alleged cases of financial impropriety and any other such matter on the initiative of the Department or as may be referred to the Department
Ensure that internal control and checks systems function effectively
Assist to plan and oversee the performance of internal audit review and prepare regular audit reports for attention of the Judicial Secretary and the Council
Supervise the conduct of pre-auditing of expenditure and ensure that budgetary control systems in the Service are adhered to
Assist in the development of financial policies, procedures and rules for effective planning and controlling of expenditure and budget of the Service in accordance with prescribed accounting standards
Evolve policies and procedures in conformity with standard auditing practices to guide all expenditures
Any other relevant duty that may be assigned by the Director of Audit

Required Skills or Experience
A Masters Degree in Administration/Finance/Accounting
Must be a member of the relevant professional body
Must have a minimum of four (4) years post-qualification experience, three (3) of which should be in a management position
Demonstrated knowledge of auditing in the Public Service
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and computerized auditing
Must have strong leadership, management and supervision skills
Strategic analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
Must be meticulous and pay attention to detail
A track record of accountability and high sense of integrity
