The National Coordinating Committee (NCC) Secretariat of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS ) is seeking qualified candidates for the following position.
The main tasks of the Macroeconomist will include:
* Undertaking macroeconomic analysis of Ghana’s economy in relation to the ECOWAS
* Collecting, processing and analyzing National Accounts and Public Finance data;
* Closely following economic developments in Ghana;
* Preparing quarterly reports for the ECOWAS convergence criteria and progress on reforms and other economic developments; and
* Undertaking any other assignments as prescribed by the National Co-ordinating Committee
Terms of Engagement:
* Engagement is for an initial period of one year and renewable thereafter
* Salaries attached to the two positions are very competitive
Required Skills or Experience
The “Ideal” Candidate:
* Must be a Ghanaian citizen;
* Must have a firm grounding of Ghana’s development agenda, strategy, and priorities, including Ghana’s relations with her development partners;
* Must be very familiar with the fiscal and monetary architecture of the Republic of Ghana;
* Must understand and appreciate the work of policy-oriented institutions, particularly in the public sector;
* Should have strong analytical skills;
* Should have excellent presentation skills;
* Should be a well-rounded macroeconomist; who works within a clear conceptual framework; is comfortable “navigating” around the different sectors of Ghana’s economy; and understands the linkages between these sectors;
* Must be capable of writing relevant high-quality reports as well as shorter targeted notes and briefs, to guide the work of the committee;
* Must be willing and able to work in a team towards a common goal, making a significant contributions to the team’s work, sharing information within the team;
* Must be able to meet tight deadlines and maintain professional working relationships with persons at all levels
We are looking for candidates with the following background:
* A graduate-level training in macroeconomics up to the Ph.D level with a specialized slant towards public finance;
* At least a 5-year post qualification experience, preferably in the public sector or other similar environment;
* Must have a good command of the English language (both written and oral) and a working knowledge in French;
* Must possess excellent interpersonal, writing and quantitative skills; and
* Must be highly computer literate
