Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Recruitment For Managing Consultant
Named the Institute of Public Administration, GIMPA was established in 1961 as a joint Ghana Government/United Nations (UN) special fund project established as one of the key strategic institutions to develop the public administrative system, to produce civil servants with administrative and professional competence, and to plan and administer national, regional and local services.

In 1966, the joint sponsorship ended and the UN formally handed over the Institute to the Government of Ghana. The Institute was then re-designated Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in 1969 to reflect its expanded functions.
Over the past 49 years, GIMPA’s activities have been guided by five successive mandates from beginning with the first legislative instrument of 1961 to the current GIMPA Act, 2004 (Act 676). Each mandate affirmed the status of the Institute as the national leading management development institute to provide the study of public administration and management of Ghana. By the new mandate, GIMPA can now offer courses leading to the award of certificates, diplomas and degrees up to the doctoral level in its areas of competence. The area of competence is defined to include training and education in the areas of leadership, management, public administration and technology.

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to the above position in the Institute. The Managing Consultant shall be responsible for the leadership and general administration of the Institute’s Consultancy Services unit in respect of human, financial and material resources within the framework of GIMPA’s Statutes and policies

    * The successful candidate shall report to the Rector and shall be a member of the Executive Management Committee (EMC) and Academic Board of the Institute
    * Shall provide leadership and guidance in planning and implementing Consultancy Services
    * Shall write proposals and provide consultancy services to the Institute and other organizations
    * Shall make recommendations to the Academic Board for the development of plans for new programmes and refinement of existing programmes
    * Shall supervise dissertations
    * Shall perform any other incidental and related duties as directed by Management

Terms of Appointment: The successful shall hold office for a term of three (3) years in the first instance and may be reappointed for a further term of three years only, subject to satisfactory performance

Required Skills or Experience

    * A Ph.D degree and high performance at professional or professorial rank constitute the basic requirement
    * Demonstrated track record of leadership in higher education administration or in consultancy
    * Experience at top management in a university context will be an added advantage
    * Must have high level policy analysis skills and intellectual capacity to grasp the essence and spirit of researched information and analytical presentations
    * Must be Computer literate
    * Must be ready to work productivity for long and sustained hours
    * Must have excellent problem solving, interpersonal and leadership skills
    * Must possess adequate skills in providing guidance, and administrative advice to faculty and staff
