The organisation is the West African representative of an international network which plays a lead role in a growing global movement advocating and supporting sustainable and responsible production and trade through the promotion of voluntary standards. The voluntary standards are being used as a tool to support cocoa farmers to improve their income and livelihoods.

Through developing Africa's high-potential breadbasket areas, while also boosting farm productivity across more challenging environments, AGRA works to transform smallholder agriculture into a highly productive, efficient, sustainable and competitive system, and do so while protecting the environment.
